Mosques & Muslim traveller notes

Halal food finder
Bangkok has a long-rooted Muslim community, with historic mosques along the river and many halal kitchens.

Check halal status

CICOT halal logo
Look for the green crescent logo of the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand, with “Halal” in Thai and Arabic.
Halal Route app
Free app from Chulalongkorn University’s Halal Science Center: restaurants, mosques, prayer times and qibla in English and Arabic.
Halal areas
Ramkhamhaeng, Phetchaburi Soi 7 near Darul Aman, Charoen Krung around Haroon Mosque, and Sukhumvit Soi 3 near Nana.
Ask directly
Muslim-run and certified are not the same. Check the certificate date and ask about shared kitchens.
Thai food note: pork and lard turn up in many dishes, including fried rice, noodle soups and pastries; shared woks are common. Fish sauce is fine, but oyster sauce and stocks need asking about. Point to a certificate or eat at Muslim-run stalls.
