Prayer & practicalities
Prayer rooms
Every mall, museum and metro hub has a musalla, usually signed near the toilets. Hamad International has prayer rooms airside in each concourse.
Friday timings
Jumu’ah is around midday. Many souq shops close from late morning until the afternoon, and the metro starts later on Fridays.
Visiting a mosque
Cover shoulders and knees; women cover their hair. Abayas and scarves are lent at the larger mosques. Shoes off at the door.
Good to know
Halal by default
All meat sold and served in Qatar is halal. Pork is sold only in one licensed outlet and does not appear on restaurant menus.
Alcohol
Served only in licensed hotel bars and restaurants. Drinking in public or being drunk in public is against the law.
Hotel restaurants
Licensed venues may cook with wine or serve alcohol at nearby tables; ask if this matters to you.
Ramadan is not this month
November 2026 has normal daytime hours for restaurants and cafés.
