Good to know
Book Railjet tickets
ÖBB and Westbahn sell cheaper advance fares for Salzburg and Graz; regional trains need no reservation.
Winter Wachau
Danube boats do not run in winter and many wineries close. Go for the abbeys and quiet villages.
Short daylight
Sunset is around 4pm; leave early and plan to return in the dark.
Carry your passport
Bratislava is in Schengen, but you still need ID across the border.
