Check halal status

Muslim Friendly Kyoto
kyoto.travel/en/muslim — the city’s official pages for halal food, prayer spaces and Muslim-friendly hotels.
Kyoto Muslim Association
Supervises the city’s halal listings with the Kyoto Council for Sharia and Halal Affairs; ask at the mosque for current advice.
Halal Gourmet Japan
halalgourmet.jp — searchable restaurant listings by certification level. Confirm status directly.
Qibla
In Kyoto the qibla is about 69° anticlockwise from true north (west-north-west). Listed hotels lend compasses.
Halal in Japanese food: dashi may use bonito (fine) but sauces often contain mirin or sake, both alcoholic. Ramen broth is usually pork, and gelatine, lard and pork extract turn up in sweets and snacks. Ask clearly, and treat vegetarian shōjin ryōri and tofu restaurants as the easiest fallback.
